I Have to Confess, I've Been a Hoarder

We live in a fast paced society where everything is a 1-click, auto powered system. Trust me, as much as I appreciate the convenience that matches my busy life, I also know that there are some things that require time and are not so quickly attainable.

One of things I’m learning is that we as believes are IN the world BUT not of it. My question to God is ” Lord what does this really mean and how do I go about it?”

When you have questions, it is safe to go to God in secret and wait in silence and be still until He reveals

The word of God tells us in Romans 12:2 " don't be conformed to the patterns of this world but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds”. The Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 6:17 "to come out from among them and to be separate. "The Bible tells us in Psalm 46:10 "be still and know that I am God".

These Biblical truths are Gods wisdom, guidance and instruction given and provided to us directly from God. These Biblical truths are roadmaps laid out for us so that we can know how to walk in this world yet not be controlled and dependent upon it solely.

When Jesus ascended into heaven He promised to send us another helper, a comforter, the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit is our teacher, our guide, our helper! I thank God for the Holy Spirit because it’s HIM who reveals and gives me the spiritual answers I be asking, yes “ be asking” 😜! It’s Him that shows up and gives me strategy and now He’s delivered me from the spirit of "hoardism".

Hoardism: a condition that stunts your ability to share with others : Don’t hoard the knowledge and wisdom I’m showing you, tell others and share it with them!

My personal relationship with God can't be obtained or strengthened in a hurry. This walk of faith is a life long learning fellowship. I can’t get around intimacy with Christ with a 1- click approach. Being free from the spirit of hoardism has given me a increased desire to pour out.

Going against the grain and boldly confessing that Jesus is the way the truth and the life. I boldly confess that you can't get to God any other way except through the son Jesus. I boldly confess that you have to carve out time, make time , make room, make space for Jesus to move. You have to read your bible and you have to pray. There's no quick fix.

When you pray go inside your innermost chamber and pray to me your Father who you can’t see and your Father who resides in secret; and I who am with you in secret will reward you openly

Let’s talk about rewards. I use to think rewards were things! I grew up going to church faithfully, sang in the choir, was involved with the youth ministries and pretty much did everything church. I appreciate my solid foundation built on faith in God however, church was what I did but wasn’t who I was. I was familiar with the scripture of bearing fruit and still thought this meant things. I would hear testimonies about blessings and associated it with stuff- materials things that the world is moved by - you know, the house, money, cars, clothes ect. Here's the disclaimer, God desires for us as His children to have things, the nice things too but there are conditions:

Seek after Him first, the kingdom of God and His righteousness and it’s in this that the things will come

What things ? I have learned that the blessings, the fruit are indeed sometimes tangible things but the long lasting ripest richest fruits are indeed the fruits of the spirit

The more I get quiet with God in my secret place both tangibly in my closet or literally within myself wherever I am, the more I practice stillness and silence. Both stillness and silence goes against the worlds philosophy of accelerated programs and the "tell it like it is" approach. The more I open the word of God and allow the word to feed my soul the more I am implementing stillness.

By definition stillness means the absence of movement or sound. The spiritual definition of stillness means to pause my way of thinking about a thing, to pause my initial reaction to a situation and to allow God to rule over that. Stillness means leaning not to my own understanding but in ALL ways acknowledging God (Proverbs 3:5). Stillness means having an assurance that God is in control. Stillness in God is an exchange of human reason for spiritual truths. In stillness there is peace. In stillness there is God.

This wisdom doesn't make sense to the world because the world will have to justify a decision or choice. Finding balance between living in this world yet not being of it requires the wisdom of God, silence and stillness. There's no way around it. If you desire to obtain the perfect peace of God I encourage you to create a tangible space inside your home, dedicate this space to God and meet Him there in intimacy and prayer. Allow the word of God to begin to transform your thoughts. Exchange your feelings and engage in conversation. This will change your life and will begin to transform you spiritually.

The lessons I have learned and am currently learning are just too good for me to hoard! It's my prayer that as God reveals to you, you will go out and share with someone else. We are blessed to become and be a blessing to others. So body of Christ, let's stop hoarding God's wisdom. Let's stop hoarding our gifts and talents; let's be used by God so that we can accomplish what He desires to get done. We are here in this world for a reason so let's live this life without life living us ( that's too deep for me to every try to explain) so it's my prayer that God will bring revelation in Jesus name.

As I write to encourage you, I write to encourage and sustain myself.

Blessings + Love
